Cuomo Siding With Senate Republicans Against NYC Tenants

Jimmy Vielkind at Capital NY:

ALBANY—With the legislative session now in overtime and lawmakers still at stalemate, Governor Andrew Cuomo has been at the Capitol, out of the public eye and out of the fray, present but unaccounted for.

...

The governor's absence has fueled suspicion among Democrats that Cuomo, the de facto head of their party, is siding more closely with Republicans in the State Senate as lawmakers negotiate the renewal of rent regulations in New York City.

“I think he's schooling us. I think he really, fundamentally sides with the landlords,” said Mike McKee, the longtime treasurer of Tenants PAC, an advocacy group. “From what I hear—and this is all second-hand, because we're not in the room—he's been laughable in terms of tenant protection.”

Gee, who'd a thunk "Governor Glenwood" would be looking to screw NYC tenants for his landlord donors behind the scenes?

You can pay Cuomo back for his betrayal, NYC residents, by doing this.

  2. Cuomo siding with repubs? OMG, say it isn't so! This is OLD NEWS. Cuomo has been morphing into another Scott Walker since he became governor. He is NO friend to the middle class and now he is going to screw over the millions of folks living in rent stabilized/controlled apartments in NYC. What a low-life liar. When you stop and look at Cuomo's highly touted but completely failed NYS business start-up initiative and the HUGE exodus of former New Yorkers fleeing to more affordable states, it is completely obvious that this governor is completely out of touch. He is nothing more than a rich bully who has absolutely no intention except to feed his ego and screw those of us still living in the once great state of New York.

I have lived in NYS for almost 60 years and am recently retired. I have steadfastly voted as a democrat all my years and foolishly voted for Andrew Cuomo the 1st time around. This last election I voted for the independent candidate and would have voted for Zephyr Teachout if she was on the ticket.

I am sickened by our thug governor and his pandering to his millionaire and billionaire friends. He's sold out the residents of this state and now the democratic party. The guy should just quit the democratic party ... he's done nothing for NYS except make us look stupid with all the corruption still clogging the toilet in Albany.

God help the citizens of NYS!
