UFT Agrees To Add Hurricane Days To School Year Even As Albany Looks To Waive Attendance Requirement For Emergency Reasons

Arthur Goldstein, UFT chapter leader at Francis Lewis High School, has the details here.

Just another very blatant example of how the UFT leadership does not look out for its members.

You have to wonder, since students were out five days but teachers were brought back for the Superstorm Sandy PD Day By Candlelight extravaganza which saw many teachers sitting in an auditorium for three hours before being sent home on the Friday of Hurricane Week, will Walcott look to add four days to the year or five?

I'm betting it's five.

And judging by how badly the UFT pushed back against the absurdity of the Superstorm Sandy PD Day By Candlelight extravaganza, which is not at all, I'm guessing Mulgrew and Company won't fight that at all either.

It is time to send this UFT leadership packing - just like it's time to send the AFT leadership packing.

Time and again they prove to be predators who do nothing other than live off our dues while providing no protection to members.

    1. Pithy, yet accurate, BT. I love how Mulgrew plays like he doesn't get along with the mayor or Walcott in public, but manages to give them everything they want when they chips are on the table.

  2. Yet another secret back door deal between the city and the UFT. What else is new? Why can't they wait for the state waiver?

    1. Mulgrew can't wit for the state waiver because if he agrees to the days before the state waiver, then the state waiver no longer matters. And of course that is the strategy here.

  3. It has been clear for a long time that Weingarten and Mulgrew are working on behalf of Bloomberg the DOE and not for teachers. This another blatant example of their betrayal

    1. Watching Mulgrew lately giving on the Superstrom Sandy PD Day By Candlelight, giving on the hurricane waiver, signing off on the RttT agreement with the NYCDOE for the district, it seems like Randi Weingarten never left.
